چکیده

At the northern part of The Netherlands closure dam Afsluitdijk is situated. It primary flood defense that closes off Lake IJssel from Wadden Sea to protect provinces against storm surges. This structure was built in 1930’s and needed be improved withstand foreseen increase surge conditions sea level rise. consists a 32 km long with five discharge sluices for regulating water at IJssel. Storm surge scenarios for Hamburg

Abstract A scenario for future storm surge heights for the tide gauge of Hamburg St. Pauli is constructed on the basis of results from a regional model for Cuxhaven. Under the A2 emission scenario, an increase of the mean annual maximum water level of about 0.1724 m appears possible and plausible for the time horizon of 2030. In Cuxhaven, an increase of 0.14 may be expected in this scenario. In...

Wetlands Assimilation of Treated Domestic Sewage for Ecological Restoration and Storm Surge Protection - Public Health Aspects

This paper summarizes the findings of a pre-design feasibility analysis assessing the restoration of significant portions of wetlands in southeast Louisiana by providing nutrients through the introduction of treated municipal wastewater effluent. Wetlands assimilation is a process whereby properly treated and disinfected municipal wastewater treatment plant effluent is used to provide a source ...

Bivariate Analysis of Extreme Wave and Storm Surge Events. Determin- ing the Failure Area of Structures

In the present paper a bivariate process of extreme waves and storm surges at a Dutch station on the North Sea is considered. A bivariate logistic model and a sequential estimation procedure are used to extract joint exceedance probabilities of the two variables. The parameters of the margins of the bivariate distribution are defined by three different methods of estimation: a) the Maximum Like...

Rising hazard of storm-surge flooding.

The 2017 Atlantic hurricane season is one for the history books. It has blown a number of records out of the water. Harvey dumped more rain on the United States than any previous hurricane. Irma maintained the highest category 5 longer than any storm anywhere in the world. September 2017 has accumulated themost cyclone energy of any month on record in the Atlantic. Last, but not least, if early...
